The HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an education and care setting in Perth is designed according to the State guidelines, and the participants are assessed based on their task performance on those guidelines. The course educates on childcare first aid responses for various emergencies, such as bleeding control, head injuries, and poisoning.
Information regarding the basic physiology and anatomy of a human being is also provided. All injuries that fall under the first aid category are addressed, and the procedure for saving the victim in that situation is performed and practised.
The basic community guidelines, first aid codes, and regulations are also taught. You will be taught to identify situations that require first aid and the situations where you will require immediate medical aid. The unit covers dislocations, strokes, crush injuries, and a lot more.
Course Description
First Aid has always been considered an essential practice for people of all ages. Calamities and injuries do not come knocking at the door, and thus, every individual has to have basic first aid and CPR knowledge. Prevention is better than cure.
In an educational environment, children’s safety is a priority. To ensure they are in safe hands, every caretaker and faculty member should be trained in first aid. The steps to undertake during first aid emergencies, including asthmatic and anaphylactic situations.
To help make the educational environment more secure, the West Coast First Aid Training has introduced a Provide Childcare First Aid HLTAID012 Response in an Education and Care Settings Course. There is no particular age requirement for this course. The course covers theoretical and practical knowledge for infants, children, and adults in emergencies. Child caretakers, educators, and supporting staff should enrol in this course so they are well-equipped with the measures to take during a first-aid emergency.
The medical areas and their training covered in this course, such as first aid, anaphylaxis, and asthma, are approved by the Education and Care Services National Law and the Education and Care Services National Regulation (2011), approved by ACECQA. All our sessions include practical, hands-on training to ensure you understand the concept and know how to perform various procedures.
The HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting course will contribute towards approved provide advanced first aid, asthma, and anaphylaxis training under the Education and Care Services National Law, and the Education and Care Services National Regulation (2011), which has been approved by ACECQA and meets the requirements of “First Aid, Asthma & Anaphylaxis”.
The course is divided into 2 parts:
Duration: 2-3 hours
The online pre-course session is 2 hours long, during which you are introduced to first aid theory and the emergencies you will be trained in. 24 hours before attending the practical training session, the student has to complete their theory. Participants will gain access to the online portal after completing registration and payment.
Duration: 1-day
The practical training, where you will be taught to perform first aid responses on a mannequin, is a 1-day assessment session. Participants will have to take a theory test and perform practical exercises. Practical assessments are conducted in groups, pairs, or individually. The exercises include laying people in the recovery position, bandaging, and performing CPR on adult, infant, and child mannequins.

The participant will be provided with two certificates on the completion of this course:

Perth Location: $1590, which includes up to ten (10) participants. Additional participants can be added at the cost of $159 per participant.
Broome Location: $1790, which includes up to ten (10) participants. Additional participants can be added at the cost of $179 per participant.

The price includes all the physical and educational resources required, plus your record of achievement, and a complementary first-aid kit (Perth Metro only), to use during the course and keep after for your own personal use.

Completion of pre-reading and knowledge assessment takes approximately 2 hours to complete, and a 1-day in-class practical assessment.

Entry Requirements
Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor and performing rescue breathing techniques on manikins.
Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.
Assessment Requirements
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.
Certificate Renewal Requirements
This certificate has an industry recommended renewal period of 36 month
Assessment Activities – Performance tasks and practical scenarios:
Theory assessment: A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.
Qualifications
No qualifications are required to enrol in this course; however, specific pre-course requirements must be fulfilled. The participants must complete the online theory 24 hours before the practical session. Also, please inform us if you are unable to get down on the floor for a medical reason, as performing CPR on a child, infant, and the adult mannequin is mandatory to complete the course.
