This Advanced First Aid Course includes the following accredited units of competency:
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid course in Perth response, including managing the incident and other first aid until the arrival of medical or other assistance.
The unit applies to workers who may be required to provide, coordinate, and manage a first aid response across various complex situations, including community and workplace settings.
Specific licensing /regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training, should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.
Provide Advanced first aid courses are delivered over two days in class and online learning. They are highly recommended for individuals working in high-risk environments, such as emergency responders, outdoor enthusiasts, and healthcare professionals. After completing an provide advanced first aid training in Perth, participants will better understand the human body and the knowledge and skills required to manage such emergencies.
Challenging situations, such as multiple casualty incidents, having to move or extricate casualties, or treating potentially fatal illnesses and injuries are high risk. It is imperative that training occurs to be able to know what to do when confronted with a real-life incident.
This course provides practical simulated real-life situations to learn and gain the confidence to coordinate and manage a response and provide advanced first aid in line with legal, community and workplace considerations, Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and other Australian national peak clinical bodies until emergency services arrive.
Instruction on basic first aid and CPR will be provided, as well as treatments specific to advanced conditions, such as hypothermia or hyperthermia, head, neck and spinal injuries, using tourniquets and haemostatic dressings for life-threatening bleeding, and managing a casualty in shock.
The course covers recording casualty condition, completing workplace incident documentation and debriefing for recognising areas for improvement, psychological impacts, and seeking help as required.

HLTAID010 – Provide basic emergency life support

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.
Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.
Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 16 Hours
Online with face-to-face assessment Face to Face contact time of at least 6 Hours
Participants must have the physical capacity to perform all practical demonstrations including 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor and performing rescue breathing techniques on manikins.
Online study options: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.
This certificate has an industry recommended renewal period of 36 months

Performance tasks and practical scenarios:
Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)
Complete a first aid incident report form based on the adult CPR simulated first aid scenario
Perform CPR on an infant
Manage a casualty with anaphylaxis
Manage a casualty with asthma
Manage a choking casualty
Manage a casualty with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock, requiring minor wound cleaning
Manage a casualty with a nosebleed
Manage a casualty with a fracture and dislocation
Manage a casualty with a sprain and strain
Manage a casualty with envenomation (snake/ funnel-web spider bite)
Simulated First Aid Scenario – Manage a casualty with a life-threatening bleed
Complete a first aid incident report form based on the life-threatening bleed first aid scenario
Coordinate a multiple casualty incident
Theory assessment: A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.
Students are required to complete a self evaluation against the following core skills as part of the enrolment process. This will allow your trainer to understand any additional support that may be required during the course delivery and assessment.
Learning I can take in detailed information, stay calm, and make decisions to manage a serious situation until help arrives.
Reading I can read and understand detailed first aid guides, labels, or emergency instructions in a stressful situation.
Writing I can clearly write down what happened during an emergency, including steps taken and changes I noticed.
Oral Communication I can explain what’s happening and pass on important information to emergency services or others helping out.
Numeracy I can use numbers to monitor time, check vital signs, understand measurements, and track how someone is responding.

This course can also be delivered over three days in class without online learning. Course costs in both Perth and Broome are $4450, which includes up to ten (10) participants. Additional participants can be added at the cost of $450 per participant.
The price includes all the physical and educational resources required, plus your record of achievement and a complementary first-aid kit (Perth Metro only) to use during the course and keep after for your personal use.
